Our main thrust this year, has been the first stage of the construction of the Resource Centre in Kenya. Work was started in January on the Prayer House, Abandoned Baby Refuge, Admin Office and Store house. The good news is, we are near completion on this and Social Services, Kenya, are soon to be contacted and involved in the setting up of the Refuge Centre. Thanks to all of you who have donated especially to this project. Photos will be following of the completed work.

1st Stage Resource Centre Oct. 2008.
We are now in the process of drawing up draught plans for the next stage comprising of: Clinic and classrooms for further training courses on the ground floor, with a flat and single room accommodation on the first floor. Also a restaurant, come conference area with a large kitchen, plus store area and, of course, shower and toilet facilities.
Fundraising events have been going on all through the year in raising money for the second stage, such as giving various talks to W.I. groups, Rotary, local schools, local churches, Oasis Coffee mornings, garden parties etc. This second stage will commence on completion of the Prayer House.
We have appointed 8 Trustees to be responsible for the work of Peacemakers in Kenya, who meet regularly to oversee and administer the progress of the Resource Centre. Projects are and will be visited by members of this team and report back to us. All information we receive will be added and recorded on our web page.

Peacemakers Trustees - Kenya
May I remind you and reassure you of our commitment to you, to deliver every penny donated by you to the project of your choice. We still guarantee this. But I would ask you also, to be patient with us, because this takes planning, time and personnel to transfer all your gifts across to Kenya, without having huge admin costs. Thank you.
DACA rehab groups are continuing to grow in Kenya, there are over 1200 youths involved. Further training courses have taken place this year and were well attended. Football teams have been formed and a knock out tournament was organised and played, resulting in a final play off, watched by many people and one or two Kenyan dignitaries who were well impressed. Hopefully there will be some positive feedback from this.
You remember our link up with the charity ‘Alive & Kicking’ based in Nairobi and the purchase of 600 footballs from them, well they were distributed to these DACA groups. A great success story and a happier youth with both young women and young men taking part. A Tournament Cup was presented to the winning team. This Cup was donated by Dave and Sandy Bissell (team members of Peacemakers, England) whose son Peter sadly died suddenly at the beginning of this year. Peter was making his way to becoming a professional cyclist and had already won many races.
We remember you Peter with great love.
If you wish someone to come and talk to your group or church to raise the profile about the work of Peacemakers at home and abroad, then please contact us.
