Len Little flew out to Kenya on 9th April 2008 and back on the 25th.

Len will be posting a review of his trip in the near future.

Len's itinerary for Kenya visit, April 2008
10th April
Len will be meeting Martin Barnard of “Alive & Kicking” to purchase footballs and netballs with money sponsored from the UK.

“Alive & Kicking” is a charity with a small factory in Nairobi employing about 20 Kenyans who hand stitch leather balls. Each person makes and creates 3 balls a day. There will be 5 motifs on each ball with slogans:-

‘Peacemakers’  ‘Alive & Kicking, Kenya’  ‘Play Safe - AIDS’  ‘Malaria Kills use Mosquito Nets’  ‘Only sick People need Drugs’.
 
These will be distributed to Youth Groups who are beginning to form Football and Netball Clubs.

11th April
Meeting Patrick Kavungura and Grace Kauma, members of Peacemaker’s Team Kenya for breakfast at Serena Hotel and inviting Jane Machira to join them, who is the East Africa Programme Officer for HIV & Aids. Len met her when she was visiting the UK recently lecturing on this subject. She is happy to link in with us in the future and be part of the team and training programme in Kenya that we plan.

Later in the day, pick up a 4 wheel drive vehicle and travel with Patrick and Grace to Plainsview Academy .

12th April
Meeting all day with Patrick & Grace.

13th April
Visiting ACK Anglican Church that Grace belongs to - Thanksgiving Service.

Visit our Plot to see what progress has been made on the building of the Resource Centre.

14th April
The opening of HIV Aids Training Residential Course for one week at Plainsview Academy.

Attending this course: Patrick, Grace, Len & Lucy from Embu + 20 youths .

The D.O. Administrative District Officer has been invited to attend to open the proceedings and a local Member of Parliament to close and encourage the youth to go out and train others and make them aware of the dangers.



Second week

 Len will be visiting DACA Groups (Drug Abuse Campaign) to encourage and counsel where necessary and assess their progress.

Len then flies home on 25th April.
