Help us raise £1800 for an oxygen concentrator for use in the abandoned baby unit, Runyenjes Hospital, Kenya, whilst enjoying: a bring and buy sale, a home-made cake stall, interesting raffles and African craft, local to the area in which Peacemakers are working, as well as cream tea and scones

Drugs Awareness

Peacemakers have in the last 9 months been very productive in their work within the area of drugs education and support. The Support Team consists of a Drugs Educator, a Youth Court Magistrate, mother of a former user and a recovered former user.

The trek up Mount Kenya was an experience of a lifetime.

En route to the mountain, we were overwhelmed with the welcome from local schoolchildren, dancers, drummers and singers in the field of a rural school in Runyenjes, near Embu. The highlight for me was a superb choral speaking piece called “Peacemakers”, in which the dancers and singers from Plainsview School rendered an appreciation of what the charitable trust had achieved in changing how people cared about their community. I was choked up with tears.

We then had to put all emotions away to get a good night’s sleep in before the drive to Mt Kenya. My stomach turned over and over with excitement and sheer fear at the sight of what we had to climb the following morning.

On Saturday November 11 a group of 10 Committee Members gathered at the beautiful setting of Shepalbury Manor in the heart of Stevenage for a day together to share thoughts and ideas, learn more about helping to promote Drugs Awareness in our local communities and to encourage each other in our own lives and work in the name of Jesus.

Peacemakers host residential convention

Peacemakers have held a Convention in East Africa every year in the month of August, since our first one in 1991 held in the district of Meru. Our aim is to draw God’s people together from all denominations that own the name of Jesus, without partiality, as God has no favourites. To encourage the Spirit of Unity and for the Church of Jesus Christ to be seen as One.

This August was no exception. Plainsview Academy was hired for a week from 28th August – 3rd September. Those who had to travel and walk many miles to attend from the rural district of Runyenjes, were resident. Much had to be organised, mattresses bought or hired, cooks found for the catering of 3 basic meals a day and many more to ensure the success for the event.
